Marriage and Property: some basic thoughts on the finances of medieval queens
The vast majority of the queen consorts gained the big portion of their property as a result of marriage negotiations. This fact gives rise to a lot of questions. The talk will focus on Roman-German queens, their dower land and the different problems that came along with it. Legal issues especially the queen’s specific power of disposition are to consider as well. A second part will address questions of the queen’s personal belongings.
