Research-Related Careers in Higher Education For research students and research staff
This session is designed to delve deeper into career options that will use and develop your skills to facilitate research at Universities. It will be facilitated by Dr Rachel Bray (Careers Adviser for Researchers) and Dr Helen Steffens, who between them have experience in or insight into outreach, research facilitation, project officer, knowledge exchange and student access at department and central levels. The discussion will focus on the breadth of roles available in terms of responsibilities and scope for using or developing one’s research skills, as well as on the demonstrable competencies and motivation needed to transition. We can also talk about combining HE roles with family life. There will be plenty of time for questions, and feel free to bring along any job descriptions that interest you whether for roles within this or other universities, so that we can discuss application strategies.
