A two-week publishing freeze is expected in early Hilary to allow all events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. The pneumococcus resides in the human airway as a commensal, and occasionally causes pneumonia or septicaemia. The talk will highlight the recent discovery of a genetic switch that leads to epigenetic changes in gene expression, that might mediate the transition of this bacterium from harmless coloniser to deadly pathogen.
