For 20 years, The George Institute for Global Health has been dedicated to research on chronic and complex conditions in adults across a broad geography. Given this focus, it may not be obvious to many why The George has made the Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health its base in the UK. The reasons are several fold, but primarily it is because most premature deaths in women are from chronic and complex conditions, such as coronary heart disease, and there appear to be many differences between women and men in disease aetiology, treatment patterns and outcomes. The George Institute will soon complete its 2025 strategic plan, and Women’s Health will be a key component. This seminar will provide an overview of the Institute’s strategic plan and the history that has informed it.
