OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). A two-week publishing freeze is expected in early Hilary to allow all events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. The exact freeze dates will be confirmed as soon as possible.

Identifying novel regulators of insulin-stimulated glucose uptake from ‘omics analyses
My group are primarily interested how insulin regulates the transport of glucose into fat and muscle tissues. This process is important for lowering blood glucose after a meal, and impaired insulin-stimulated glucose uptake (or insulin resistance) is a risk factor for a number of metabolic disease including type 2 diabetes. I will discuss how we have used genomics, proteomics and phosphoproteomics analyses to shed light on new regulators of insulin-stimulated glucose transport and how this process is dysregulated in insulin resistance.
