An illustrated talk by Fergus Cochrane-Dyet OBE, former British ambassador to Liberia, Seychelles, Malawi and Zambia, currently on sabbatical at St Hugh’s reading for a MSc in African Studies. Fergus will describe what it is like working as a diplomat in Africa: pro-democracy efforts, aid and the West Africa Ebola crisis, as well as his dramatic expulsion from Malawi in 2011.
The Oxford International Relations Society, which hold speaker events with academics and practitioners working in the field of international relations, will be co-hosting this lecture.
