David Rock holds MA and PhD degrees at the University of Cambridge, where he also served as Research Officer at the Centre of Latin American Studies. He spent most of his career as Professor of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Following retirement from teaching in 2014, he became Senior Research Associate at the Cambridge Centre of Latin American Studies. His writings on Argentina include Politics in Argentina, 1890-1930. The Rise and Fall of Radicalism; Argentina 1516-1987; Authoritarian Argentina; State Building and Political Movements in Argentina; and latterly The British in Argentina, 1800-2000: Trade, Settlers and Power.
