Please book your place by emailing giuseppe.marcocci@history.ox.ac.uk by the evening of 11 June
A day-long workshop on the theme ‘Violent Encounters: Conflict, Resistance and Memory in the Medieval and Early Modern Iberian World’ will be held at Cohen Quad on 14 June.

Organised by Exeter graduate students Ana Struillou and Laurence McKellar, this will be the second workshop to be held by Oxford’s Iberian History group.

The keynote speech will be given by Professor Zoltán Biedermann (UCL), who is the author of the recent book (Dis)connected Empires: Imperial Portugal, Sri Lanka Diplomacy, and the Making of a Habsburg Conquest in Asia (OUP, 2018). There will also be a range of papers and speakers from Oxford’s graduate programmes in History, History of Art, and Literature, demonstrating the breadth of study into Iberian history and culture taking place at the University.

Oxford’s Iberian History group was established with support from Exeter College, Oxford’s History Faculty Research Committee and the Oxford Centre for European History, and through the efforts of Exeter Fellow in History Professor Giuseppe Marcocci.

The workshop will take place on Friday 14 June at Cohen Quad, Walton Street. It is open to all and free to attend. Should you wish to attend please email Professor Marcocci at giuseppe.marcocci@history.ox.ac.uk by the evening of Tuesday 11 June.
