OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
This event will offer a brief introduction to the latest issue of Forced Migration Review, followed by a dynamic discussion featuring some of the issue’s authors. We will delve into key topics, such as the growing constraints on search and rescue through criminalisation and ‘bureaucratisation’; how rescue operates in different locations – from the mountains to the desert; the role of high-level diplomacy and regional cooperation in preventing migrant deaths and disappearances and on-the-ground approaches to identification; and the particular perils of new migration routes.
The event will be in English, with live interpretation into Arabic, French, and Spanish on request.
If you require interpretation, please email fmr@qeh.ox.ac.uk by Friday 23rd May at the latest, indicating your required language.
