OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Gender Equality, It’s About Time
In the first part of the seminar, I will talk about my experience as a researcher focussing on topics of gender and explain why I think the study of time allocation is key to understanding the causes and consequences of gender inequalities. In the second part, I will present findings of gender equality trends in time use across East Asian and Western societies in the last three decades. The findings reveal that the closing of gender gaps in paid work, domestic work, and total work has stalled in the most recent decade in several countries. Cultural contexts and welfare policies play a key role in determining whether the gender revolution in the division of labour will stall or continue

The seminar will be online for all MSc, MPhil and DPhil Sociology students with surnames starting with A to M. MSc, MPhil and DPhil students with surnames starting with N to Z, as well as faculty, researchers and interested Oxford University staff and students can join in person. The talk will be preceded by a light lunch at 12.30 for those attending.
