The Lincoln Leads Seminar Series 2019 takes place on Thursday evenings during Hilary term at Lincoln College, Oxford. Each panel features an Alumnus/na, a Fellow, and a Student of the College, who will respond to a topical question linked to their research or professional experience. Following a wine reception at 5pm, each seminar will start at 5.45pm, culminating in a lively Q&A session. We have a fantastic group of panellists scheduled for the series, who aim to invite non-specialist audiences into their spheres of expertise. We therefore hope that you are eager to join them in conversation, and learn more about the exciting and diverse research connected to Lincoln.

Please see below for further details of our speakers:

Professor Stefan Enchelmaier is a Fellow at Lincoln College and a Professor of European and Comparative Law at the Faculty of Law. He studied Law, Philosophy, and Latin at the Universities of Cologne, Hamburg, and Edinburgh; obtained his doctorate with a thesis on European competition law from the University of Bonn, and his habilitation on comparative (Anglo-German) property law from the University of Munich. Professor Enchelmaier’s research focuses on the European Union’s internal market, especially the customs union and free movement. He has also written and spoken extensively on constitutional and procedural aspects of European Union law. He is currently interested in legal questions regarding Brexit in particular and the internal market of the European Union, including the customs union, and all questions regarding free movement.

Lee Rowley is the Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire. Elected in June 2017 for his home seat, Lee sits on the Public Accounts Select Committee and is also co-chair of the Freer initiative, promoting social and economic liberalism. His political interests are economics, planning and energy policy (particularly around fracking). He read Modern History at Lincoln, matriculating in 1999 and graduating in 2002. Prior to being an MP, Lee works in a range of consultancy and financial services roles including KPMG, Barclays, Santander and the Co-op.

Samuel Murray is currently on a leave of absence from Corrs Chambers Westgarth, a leading Australian law firm, to study the Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford. After graduating from the University of Sydney in 2015, Samuel served as a tipstaff for two judges on the New South Wales Court of Appeal. From 2017 Samuel was a solicitor in the Commercial Litigation practice group for Corrs. Samuel won the 2018 NSW Young Lawyer of the Year Award for his work in law reform and for creating mentoring programs for law students, and is a recipient of Banking & Financial Services Law Association of Australia and New Zealand Scholarship. He is particularly interested in the interaction of public and commercial law, particularly with reference to insolvency and arbitration disputes.
