Alisher Faizullaev, D.Sc., Ph.D., is a scholar, writer and former diplomat. He was appointed as a Professor in the Department of Practical Diplomacy of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in 2005, and Director of the Negotiation Laboratory at UWED in 2008. Previously he served as the First Rector of UWED (2003-2005), and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom (1999-2003).

He was a Fulbright Scholar at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University (2011-2012), as well as a Visiting Scholar at McGill University (2014), Cambridge University (2005) and Western Washington University (1992).

Professor Faizullaev published 8 scholarly and fictional books and numerous articles on social and behavioral sciences. His articles have appeared in “Review of International Studies,” “Diplomacy and Statecraft,” “Negotiation Journal,” “The Hague Journal of Diplomacy,” “Journal of International Relations and Development” and other journals.

He is a member of the international advisory board / editorial board of numerous academic journals, including “The Hague Journal of Diplomacy” (the Netherlands), “Cambridge Journal of Eurasian Studies” (the United Kingdom), “Comparative Politics” (Russia), “Social Psychology and Society” (Russia), “International Relations: Politics, Economy and Law” (Uzbekistan).

As a diplomat, he also served as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium (1995-98); Head of Mission of Uzbekistan to the European Communities (1995-98); Head of Mission of Uzbekistan to Euro Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC)/North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) (1995-98); Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Netherlands and Luxembourg with the residency in Brussels, Belgium/ (1997-98).
