The Lincoln Leads Seminar Series 2019 takes place on Thursday evenings during Hilary term at Lincoln College, Oxford. Each panel features an Alumnus/na, a Fellow, and a Student of the College, who will respond to a topical question linked to their research or professional experience. Following a wine reception at 5pm, each seminar will start at 5.45pm, culminating in a lively Q&A session. We have a fantastic group of panellists scheduled for the series, who aim to invite non-specialist audiences into their spheres of expertise. We therefore hope that you are eager to join them in conversation, and learn more about the exciting and diverse research connected to Lincoln.

Dr Fabio Morabito is the Lord Crewe Junior Research Fellow in Music at Lincoln College. He read music at the University of Pavia (Italy) and at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar (Germany). After completing his PhD at King’s College London, he spent one year as a Teaching Fellow in Musicology at Durham University. Dr Morabito’s research focuses primarily on musical culture in Paris and Vienna in the early nineteenth century, looking at the cult of eccentricity and the origins of celebrity, the commercialization of selfhood, and the intellectual history of musical authorship.
Paul Wingfield is currently Head of Vocal and Operatic Studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He read Music at Oxford University and trained as a conductor and repetiteur at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the National Opera Studio. Mr Wingfield has worked as a conductor and assistant conductor at the Royal Opera House, where he was a Jette Parker young artist from 2012 to 2014, as well as Birmingham Opera Company, the Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera, and Opera Holland Park. He has also worked as a repetiteur for the English National Opera. In 2003 he founded the Orchestra of the Royal Borough.
Edward Spencer is pursuing a DPhil in Musicology, focusing on Electronic Dance Music (EDM) since 2010. He graduated from RNCM and the University of Manchester and completed an MSt at Oxford. In 2017 he was awarded the John Lowell Osgood Memorial Prize Essay. Edward has presented at a number of conferences in the United States and Europe, as well as organising a conference entitled ‘Music and the Internet: A Joint Study Day of the RMA and BFE’ at the Faculty of Music, Oxford University in December 2018. His research interests include Music and the Internet, Aesthetics and Critical Theory.
