Urban environments and social change
With more than 2.5 billion people estimated to be added to urban environments by 2050 (United Nation), the complexities of urbanisation are yet to be explored. Asia and Africa will be at the heart of this urban growth with more urban infrastructure yet to be built. What are the dynamics of the urban change and what are the impacts of this rapid urbanisation on social inequality. This talk will look at the expansion of urban footprint and its environmental impact on people’s lives. Key themes of the talk will include urban sprawl and density.
