Iran Protests: A Panel Discussion
Walking vigil 3pm from Bonn Square to St Antony’s College directly preceding this event.
Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian Woman, was killed on 16 September 2022 while in custody of Iran’s “morality police” with the charge of “improper hijab.” Her death sparked nation-wide protests in Iran, which have been met with brutal crackdown by the country’s security forces and led to hundreds of arrests, injuries, and deaths. This panel represents some voices of the protest through audio recordings, reviews the highlights of the ongoing protests, offers brief analyses of its characteristics and trajectory, and provides a platform for question and answer with the audience.
