Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Join us on the 22nd of May for an interactive panel discussion on the topic of “What makes effective conservation?” as part of the Grand Challenges seminar series. We will be discussing key questions around conservation success in the 21st century, including: What is “effective” conservation and how do we measure it? How do we foster collaboration between local communities, conservation practitioners, researchers and funders? Where should conservation funding come from and what is the role of nature-based finance? We will hear from a panel of researchers and practitioners across the fields of ecology, anthropology and policy, with time for audience participation and questions. The panel will be chaired by Amy Dickman, Professor of Wildlife Conservation at the University of Oxford, featuring Dave Stone (Joint Nature Conservation Committee), Alexandra Zimmermann (Oxford Wildlife Conservation Research Unit), Sahil Nijhawan (Conservation anthropologist at UCL & ZSL) and Sophus zu Ermgassen (Ecological economist at University of Oxford) as speakers. The panel will take place at 5pm on the 22nd of May at the Jesus College Conference Center on Ship Street, Oxford, and will last approximately 90 minutes, followed by a drinks reception.
