OxTalks is Changing
On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

Behind the Scenes of UN Climate Summits with COP27 Presidential Youth Envoy Dr Omnia El Omrani
Climate COPs, the annual summits of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, have in recent years entered public discourse and any environmentalists’ vocabulary. Yet many are left perplexed about the outcomes (or lack thereof) resulting from each COP, let alone what actually happens during summits.
To demystify what happens before, during and after a COP, who calls the shots, and understand the realistic progress we can expect from the UNFCCC process, we will be taking a behind-the-scenes look with Dr Omnia El Omrani, who was part of the COP27 Presidency, and whose term also covers COP28, as the first ever Youth Envoy. This will be a frank, open discussion under Chatham House rule.
The event will include a 30-minute lecture, 30-minute facilitated Q&A, and 30-minute audience Q&A. This event will be facilitated by Professor in Global Public Policy at Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, Thomas Hale, who co-leads the Net Zero Tracker, and MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment student Luke Spajic, who spoke at COP26 and COP27.
Please arrive on time as we will begin at 5:30pm.
