OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
The End of the End of History
The second Oakeshott Lecture of 2025 – with perennially viral tech philosopher Curtis Yarvin and eminent historian David Starkey
From San Francisco via Dimes Square, the Oakeshott Lectures bring Curtis Yarvin to Oxford for the second installment of 2025’s series.
A former software developer, Curtis Yarvin came to international prominence under the pen-name Mencius Moldbug as a critic of contemporary democracy. An avid promoter of technocracy, Yarvin has become an influential figure on the American right – a reliably controversial voice and a confidante of JD Vance and Peter Thiel.
Following his lecture, Yarvin will debate the legendary British historian David Starkey on history and the future of conservatism.
