OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Lifestyle and the ageing brain: findings from the Whitehall II Imaging Sub-study
Every 3 seconds, someone in the world develops dementia. Mid-life obesity, diabetes, and hypertension are modifiable risk factors for dementia, whereas higher education level and physical activity may be protective. In this talk, I will discuss when and how these risk and resilience factors affect the ageing brain, using multi-modal MRI to characterise brain structure, function and vascular health. I will describe findings from the Whitehall II Imaging Sub-study and the EU Lifebrain Project (“Healthy Minds: 0-100 years”), a large collaboration of 13 European neuroimaging studies.
