OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

With particular relevance to the current pandemic, Josef Penninger will present how work on ACE2, from the disocery in fly heart development to the first mutant mice and a fundamental understanding of SARS Coronavirus induce lung failure. This data provided the first molecular underpining why the first SARS-CoV and now SARS-CoV2 causing COVID-19 became „such dangerous viruses“. ACE2 has taken center-stage in global research and drug as well as vaccine development efforts after as a critical receptor for SARS-Cov-2. This work has also been translated into an ACE2 based drug to a highly promising, rational treatment for COVID-19.
