[Cortex Club special Christmas event] Neuroscience Model Organisms Panel
cortex
We are very excited to invite you to a special Christmas event, where we will come together to celebrate the completion of a very successful year at Cortex Club.

Breaking with our regular speaker seminar format, we will present a panel discussion featuring some of Oxford’s most cherished neuroscientists. Indeed, we are proud to host Prof Gero Miesenböck, Prof Heidi Johansen-Berg, Prof Andrew Parker, and Prof David Bannerman, who will be debating the scientific and societal aspects of using different model organisms for neuroscience research.

The debate will focus on the abilities of different model systems to help address the major goals of modern neuroscience. In doing so, the panel will also tackle the costs and limitations associated with the use of different model organisms. The debate will be moderated by the current Cortex Club committee, together with the previous committee, and will be followed by some festive mulled wine and food.

This event will take place between 11.00–13.00 on Thursday the 15th of December in the Oxford Centre for Gene Function (OCGF) Seminar Room (see maps.ox.ac.uk/#/places/oxpoints:23233829 for map).

Last but not least, we would like to invite you to submit questions you would like addressed in this discussion! You may do this via email, a Facebook-message, or a Twitter post until Wednesday, 7th of December. We will try to incorporate all of your questions in the discussion.

We look forward to seeing you there!
