OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

P M S Hacker is the leading authority on the philosophy of Wittgenstein, and Emeritus Fellow and former Tutorial Fellow in philosophy at St John’s College, Oxford. He holds an Honorary Professorship at University College, London at the UCL Institute of Neurology at Queen’s Square and has held British Academy and Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowships and visiting chairs in North America. Together with M R Bennett, he has written extensively on cognitive neuroscience. He is the author of 24 books, editor of 4 books, and author of 172 papers. In his works in the last decade and a half he has dedicated his energies to a tetralogy on human nature. Born in London in 1939, he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at The Queen’s College, Oxford from 1960-63, elected to a graduate studentship at St Antony’s College, Oxford, where he remained from 1963-65, writing a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of H L A Hart on the subject of ‘Rules and Duties’.
