OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Seminar by Dr Matthew Murphy "THE ROLE OF SKELETAL STEM CELLS IN INJURY, AGING AND REGENERATION."
This seminar will be held in the Kennedy Institute Lecture Theatre with the option to join via Zoom https://medsci.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYtd-murD4pE9exzAbb0GApM528HQ3RO_WI
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic disease which results in irreversible, progressive damage to the cartilage of joints with a prevalence estimated to be over 303 million globally. During this seminar I will introduce the concept of the mouse and human Skeletal Stem Cell (SSC). I will share our understanding of how SSC are affected by age, have the capability to “activate” following injury and how, under niche augmentation, can be instructed to regenerate cartilage. My goal is to provide an effective therapeutic adjunct to regenerate cartilage and alleviate symptoms for patients with OA.
