OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Are you interested in the power of music and sound to influence policy?
Professor Naomi Waltham-Smith is hosting a series of FREE workshops at Merton College to explore this unusual crossover. These workshops will bring together academics from multiple disciplines with NGOs, grassroots and other civil society organizations, lawyers, and others working to influence policymaking to discuss how music and sound research can impact public policy beyond areas like music education, health and wellbeing, and the creative industries.
There are two workshops on Tuesday, June 18th at Merton College:
Morning (9:30-12:30): How can an Opera Transform an Abandoned Public Space? (Interactive workshop)
Afternoon (1:30-5:00): Regulating Music and Sound (Panel discussions on the suppression of drill music, and on listening and noise in the law of protest, freedom of expression, and academic freedom)
Lunch and refreshments are included if you wish to attend both sessions!
Space is limited for these interactive sessions. Please RSVP by 5 pm on Friday 14 June to naomi.waltham-smith@music.ox.ac.uk and state which session, or both, you would like to attend.
