Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Professor Hawton is Director of the Centre for Suicide Research in the University Department of Psychiatry and Consultant Psychiatrist with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. Much of his work has focussed on the prevention of suicidal behaviour. In this presentation he will examine the evidence which shows that suicide risk assessment and prediction do not work and highlight the need to focus on suicide risk reduction.
