OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Costa Rica's Trail: Policy lessons in trade, Environmental Stewardship, and Science Diplomacy
This panel event brings together leading experts and policymakers to explore how Costa Rica, a global leader in environmental protection and social progress, has successfully balanced economic growth with sustainability and peace, and the challenges that remain. We’ll delve into Costa Rica’s innovative approaches to trade, conservation, and diplomacy, and discuss the valuable insights for other nations striving for sustainable futures.
The panel discussion is introduced by Tom Hale, Professor in Public Policy, Blavatnik School of Government, and moderated by Amir Lebdioui, Associate Professor of the Political Economy of Development, Oxford Department of International Development, with expert comments from Andres Valenciano Yamuna, Director for the Washington Office of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, María Estelí Jarquín, International Relations Coordinator at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH), and HE Mr Rafael Ortiz Fábrega, Ambassador of Costa Rica to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
