Dr Kori Schake, Director Deputy-General of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), will be delivering this year’s Guy Hudson Memorial Lecture. Dr Schake oversees the Institute’s research programme and acts as a driving force behind initiatives to enhance the Institute’s work and profile, including developing new funding opportunities and deepening links with governments, the private sector, and the expert and opinion-forming communities internationally on strategic issues. She has held policy positions across government, academia and think tanks, including serving as Director of Defense Strategy & Requirements in the National Security Council under the George W Bush administration, and later at the US State Department as Deputy Head of Policy Planning. Her recent publications include Safe Passage: The Transition from British to American Hegemony; Warriors and Citizens: American Views of our Military (edited with Jim Mattis); and America vs the West: Can the Liberal World Order be Preserved?
