Students and early career researchers are invited to join us for our autumn quarterly speaker series on global health systems research. Every term, world-leading international researchers in the field are invited to Oxford to present their work. The aim of this series is to provide opportunities for networking and to engage students and researchers in the increasingly important fields that support the improved delivery of healthcare in low and middle income countries. Diana Pinto
Talk: The Inter-American Development Bank and its role in strengthening health systems

Diana Pinto is a Health Lead Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank. With a background in conducting research in applied health economics, she was Associate Professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana’s School of Medicine and Research Associate at Fedesarollo, a nonprofit policy research centre in Colombia. Diana has also worked as Health Policy Advisor to the Minister of Social Protection in Colombia, where she designed and evaluated health sector policy.

Fadi El-Jardali
Talk: Research to support health systems performance improvement in the Eastern Mediterranean

Fadi El-Jardali is a Professor of Health Policy and Systems at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Fadi’s research focuses on health policy making, knowledge translation and governance. He also specialises in reporting for health systems and organisations and quality of care. Fadi is a member of the Global Steering Committee for the WHO Evidence-Informed Policy Network and a recipient of the Fellowship on Evidence Informed Policy from the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research.

Tomás Pantoja Calderon
Talk: Improving health in Latin America – Supporting the use of evidence in health systems decision making: the case of EVIPNet Chile

Tomás Pantoja is a physician-surgeon and specialist in Family Medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He holds a MSc in Health Management from Imperial College London and a MSc in Health Care based on Evidence from the University of Oxford. His research areas are focused on adult clinical care, control of chronic pathologies (hypertension, diabetes), and evidence-based medicine.
