Book discussion: The Capital Order: How economists invented austerity and paved the way to fascism
Rethinking Economics are hosting economic historian Clara Mattei on Wednesday 16 November at 6pm in Balliol College Lecture Room 23 to discuss her new book ‘‘The Capital Order: How economists invented austerity and paved the way to fascism”, which discusses the role austerity plays in upholding class relations. She will be in discussion with historians Professors Richard Bosworth (Jesus College) and Avner Offer (All Souls) on the origins of austerity, whose interests austerity actually serve, and what lessons we can learn for politics today.
