Building Resilient Futures: Report Launch on Youth & Family Interventions in India & Kenya
You are warmly invited to the launch of the report, “Acceptability and Feasibility of a Brief Intervention to Enhance Resilience Among Young People and Their Families in India and Kenya.” This groundbreaking study explores the design and implementation of a five-session intervention that combines Life Skills Education (LSE) with a family resiliency model, tailored to meet the cultural and contextual needs of rural and semi-rural communities in India and Kenya. The intervention focuses on equipping adolescents and their families with practical skills such as decision-making, emotional expression, and cooperation, fostering resilience in low-resource settings.
The panel, chaired by Baroness Jan Royall, Principal of Somerville College, will delve into the study’s findings, the innovative methods used to adapt mental health interventions across cultural contexts, and the potential for scaling these approaches to support vulnerable populations globally. The discussion will also explore the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing mental health research and policy.
