Making Home in the Mother Country with Professor Patricia Daley
Description
Professor Daley (University of Oxford) will explore how Caribbean migrants of the Windrush generations constructed “home” on the island of Britain – in a country that they thought they had prior knowledge and some familiarity. Making “home” will be considered in the decoration of the living spaces, through the sociality of family, friends, and the wider black community, as well as attachment to the towns and cities in which people settled.

Professor Daley is Professor of the Human Geography of Africa at the University of Oxford.

Doors open at 1.30pm for refreshments.

Part of our Windrush Years programme accompanying the Windrush Years – Next Generations exhibition.
