QResearch: What is QResearch, and how can researchers access it?
QResearch is a large consolidated database derived from the anonymised health records from general practices using the EMIS clinical computer system.
The practices are spread throughout the UK and include data from patients who are currently registered with the practices as well as patients who may have died or left.
Historical records extend back to the 1989 making it one of the largest and richest general practice databases in the world and essential resource for researchers on an international scale.
The GP data from England is linked to Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), Civil Registration Data, Cancer Registry Data, Second Generation Surveillance System (SGSS) COVID-19 data, and Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre (ICNARC) data.
QResearch has been located at the University of Oxford since its founder Professor Julia Hippisley-Cox joined the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in 2019.
QResearch is available for use by researchers at the University of Oxford.
On 4th May 2021, Julia Hippisley-Cox and Rebekah Burrow will run a workshop open to all members of the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences:

* who might be interested in using QResearch in their research
* who would like to understand how they can access QResearch
