'Doc-U-Mentally' film screening
What is it like to do a 30 hour shift as a junior doctor in South Africa?
This Safe Working Hours campaign movie screening and panel discussion explores the impact of working hour regulations of doctors on patient safety.

Join the Green Templeton College Global Health and Care Systems student society as we follow five young, motivated South African doctors from different cultural backgrounds through a 30-hour shift at two rural hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. To watch the trailer for the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Doc-U-Mentally’, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH7J6cUmizQ.

There will be a pizza break mid-way through followed by an interactive discussion. Our panellists are three junior doctors from South Africa who led the Safe Working Hours advocacy campaign. It resulted in a change in the working hour regulations of junior doctors in South Africa. Join our discussion around the evidence for regulating working hours and how this links to medical errors, patient safety and health worker wellbeing.
Whether your background is in medicine, in health systems or whether you are curious about what it would be like, join us for this exciting event!
