OxTalks is Changing
On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

The Trend of Education Technology Usage and Its Social Impacts
Hybrid event
Technology is often portrayed as the future of education, promising personalised teaching, objective assessment, and equal access. Yet, education technology (EdTech) providers are overwhelmingly for-profit businesses and not institutions with education as their core mandate.
Using data scraping methods, this study builds the first-ever EdTech usage index that quantifies how much EdTech is being used, and how it has developed over the past few years. Further, applying qualitative text analysis, the study unpacks how education technology companies describe their products, justify their approaches to anticipate how technology may transform education as a public service.
