On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

Uterine fibroids are benign lesions of uterine myometrial tissue causing heavy menstrual bleeding and reduced fertility. Due to limited treatment options fibroids are the primary indication for hysterectomy. My talk will discuss the role of several metabolic factors among women with fibroids. The newly published fibroid GWAS meta-analysis identifies 29 genome-wide significant loci. Interestingly several of these loci associate with CVD trait. Based on a unique MRI screening data, my research shows that fibroid incidence among Finnish women is significantly lower than what is stated previously. We suggest that Finnish women share protective factors against fibroid tumourigenesis.
