OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Neoliberalism: A Useful Category of History Analysis?
Is neoliberalism merely an economic ideology or a means of ordering society? Is it just the high-minded aims of policy wonks or a Gramscian cultural hegemonic process? Is neoliberalism just a desire for greater economic efficiency or part of a 300 year process between community and the market?
Ben Jackson is Professor of Modern History at University College, Oxford, who focuses on modern British history but also US and European history. He mainly focuses on political thought, from liberalism, socialism and Scottish Nationalism, and the rise (as well as somewhat demise!) of the welfare state.
