OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Beyond boxes: unpacking who we are in a research environment
Why do we often try to fit neatly into categories, when sometimes the categories of who we are and identify as, can be blurry and often overlap, commonly referred to as intersectionality. In fact, all people have a range of qualities, characteristics and identities that shape how we navigate our environments, spaces and the world. When we recognise and acknowledge the complexity of people, we can start building stronger connections and communities with each other, which will only enhance creativity, innovation and problem solving in research. This talk sheds light on the roots of intersectionality, through sharing stories and opening up conversations that help us move beyond boxes and achieve our more inclusive environments for research and innovation to thrive.
Key take aways:
- Build confidence with what intersectionality is and how it applies to your everyday work – Understand how equality issues are interconnected – Develop small acts of kindness that can transform daily interactions
