In commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day, and in collaboration with Merton College History Society, the Oxford University History Society is proud to invite Professor Mary Fulbrook to speak. She will be talking about her book, ‘Reckonings: Legacies of Nazi Persecution and the Quest for Justice’, for which she won the Wolfson History Prize in 2019. The talk promises to explore the tangled history of memory and experience among survivors and perpetrators, across a spectrum of suffering and guilt.

Mary Fulbrook is an accomplished historian of modern Germany based at University College London. She was the first female chair of the German History Society, and was joint founding Editor (along with Richard Evans) of its journal, ‘German History’. Her research focuses on the history of memory and identity among survivors and perpetrators in the wake of the Holocaust.
