OxTalks is Changing
On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

From Data Science to Machine Learning: Insights from the Engineering World
The event is part of the Cheng Kar Shun Digital Hub Programme and hosted by the Oxford Women in Engineering Network (WiE) in collaboration with the Cambridge University Women in Engineering Society (CUWES).
Engineering is vast: from energy systems to biomedical breakthroughs, from control algorithms to robotics. For this event, we’re zooming in on the digital frontier – exploring data science, machine learning, quantum technologies, and the ever-evolving world of Artificial Intelligence.
This event will explore engineering in the Digital Age through the lens of female researchers, showcasing their outstanding contributions while providing a space to share experiences, exchange ideas, and build connections. Women are still vastly underrepresented in the engineering profession, accounting for less than 17% of the workforce in 2025 (according to EngineeringUK). With the engineering world being increasingly shaped by progress in data science and AI, this event will showcase cutting-edge research that employs diverse digital methods and technologies, featuring the work of both established women leaders and emerging voices.
While the symposium shines a spotlight on female researchers, we warmly welcome participants of all genders at this event – your perspectives and voices are essential to the conversation as we explore not only the possibilities of engineering in the Digital Age, but also the challenges that women continue to face within the field.
Join us for an inspiring day of ideas, exchange, and connection featuring researchers from Oxford and Cambridge as we push the boundaries of what engineering can achieve.
