OxTalks Change Freeze Starts 2 March
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Massada Public Seminar - Naked in the Water: Medieval Architecture and Jewish Purification Practices
ISRAEL AND IONE MASSADA FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAMME WORCESTER COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
As European cities laboured to replace wooden churches with larger stone ones after the first millennium, Jewish communities began a concurrent re-designing of their own public monuments. This lecture focuses on Jewish ritual baths from the 12th and 13th centuries. Built to facilitate physical and spiritual transformation these unique structures offer a window into some of the biggest theological debates of the Middle Ages.
The presentation will be followed by discussion and drinks.
