OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Dear All,
You are cordially invited to attend the following Keble ASC Relics Cluster Lectures which are related to King Alfred the Great.
‘The Search for Alfred the Great’
Relics Cluster talk by Katie Tucker (University of Winchester)
Wednesday 8th November, 5pm at Pusey Room, Keble College.
Abstract: The talk will detail the archaeological, osteological and historical detective work involved in the search for the remains of King Alfred, a collaboration between the University of Winchester and Hyde 900. The project was the focus of a BBC2 documentary in January 2014 and features in the book “The Search for Alfred the Great: The King, The Grave, The Legend”, co-authored by Katie Tucker with Edoardo Albert. The talk will include many details that do not feature in the documentary or the book.
‘The discovery of Queen Eadgyth’
Relics Cluster talk by Prof. Harald Meller (State Museum of Prehistory, Halle (Salle), Germany)
Wednesday 22th November, 5pm at Pusey Room, Keble College.
Come and find out about Eadgyth, grand-daughter of Alfred the Great, and the successful identification of her remains in Magdeburg in 2010.
Kind regards,
