OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
This talk will reflect on Dr Berenskötter attempts to form and advance a new (reading of a) concept in the field of International Relations, namely that of ‘friendship’. He will outline his motivations to engage on this journey and discuss the approach he developed, or came to adopt, where and how he found support for this undertaking, as well as the challenges and rewards as he experienced them. Rather than simply a personal reflection, the talk is based on his reading of Koselleck’s notion of a basic concept (Grundbegriff) and carves out the analytical, pedagogical and normative/practical layers in and through which he sees the process of concept formation unfolding.
Capacity is limited to 50 attendees.
