Climate change affects everyone, but common ground is not always easy to find in an age of political polarization. How can different parties find ways to work together to design and support ambitious climate policies? What are the outcomes and policy proposals that can build broad, winning coalitions? How do we converge around them?
Parliamentarians and legislators from different backgrounds will discuss the challenge and opportunity of cross-party support for the national and global interest.
The event serves to launch the 2023-2024 St Antony’s College Visiting Parliamentary Fellowship series, which this year focuses on the climate challenge. The College has elected Chris Skidmore, MP, and Alex Sobel, MP, as Visiting Parliamentary Fellows to lead this critical conversation. Moderated by Melini Mehra, GLOBE CEO, and with opening comments from Professor Thomas Hale, Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, the event will bring together parliamentarians from around the world to assess the search for a “common climate” across parties in different countries.
Event organised in partnership with Blavatnik School of Government, St Antony’s College, Globe International, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
