Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
This exhibition is guest-curated by Wadham English student, Annabel Brodersen.
What will be on display: Eleven medieval illuminated manuscripts, ranging in date from the 11th to the 16th century, as well as three early printed books, including a work by Albrecht Durer, published in 1511 when he was 40 years of age, containing a series of stunning woodcut prints by Durer that tell the story of the Passion.
Additional: Captions for each manuscript by expert Dr Peter Kidd (formerly of the British Library) and Annabel.
We will also be playing a short film showing experts, including the late Professor Richard Sharpe, discussing three of the manuscripts in the room. And we will be playing a slideshow that will reveal some of the other pages from the books (ie other than the pages we will have the books open at).
There will be some beautiful medieval items on display – a treat not to be missed, so do come along if you can!
