OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
We are very excited to be hosting Tim Collins next week on Counter Strike: Insurgency in the 21st Century. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 12th in the Old Library at All Souls College at 8:30pm. As always, there will be a drinks reception prior to the event, starting at 8pm.
Timothy Collins OBE is a retired Colonel with the SAS and Royal Irish Regiment, who served in both Gulf Wars and set up the Peace Support College in Sarajevo. He is best known for his inspirational eve-of-battle speech in the 2003 Iraq War, which President George Bush had displayed in the White House’s Oval Office. Closer to home, he worked closely with the Special Branch of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, training and running contacts in Sinn Fein and the IRA. After leaving the force, he published the memoir Rules of Engagement, providing powerful insights into the realities of warfare. Today, as Chairman of Horus Global, he delivers specialist programmes in security sector reform and international development.
