Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
We are delighted to invite you to our fourth event of Michaelmas 2022, which will take place on Tuesday, November 1, in the Old Library at All Souls College at 8:30pm. As always, there will be a wine reception prior to the event, starting at 8pm. The speaker will be Jack Watling, who will be speaking to us on ‘Lessons from Russia’s 2022 Invasion of Ukraine’.
Dr Jack Watling is Senior Research Fellow for Land Warfare at the Royal United Services Institute. Dr Watling works closely with the British military and conducts operational analyses of contemporary conflicts. His research aims to assess evidence from current and historical operations to inform the modernisation of land forces and to help commanders better understand how adversaries are likely to seek advantage and exploit weaknesses. Dr Watling has previously worked extensively on wars and conflicts in Ukraine, Iraq, Yemen, Mali, Rwanda, and further afield.
Main access to the Old Library is via a steep staircase. Arrangements can be made for those with limited mobility to use a stairlift and a Fellow’s room to gain access. Please let us know as soon as possible if you require this type of assistance. Capacity is limited so please arrive early.
A £2 fee for attendance is kindly requested for all non-members of OUSSG. If you need to renew your membership, you can do so on our website or at the door. The event can also be found on our Facebook page.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Best regards,
