OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). A two-week publishing freeze is expected in early Hilary to allow all events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. This Kick-off will introduce you to the Python programming language, covering all the major concepts and its features. During the course a problem is posed, and you will use the knowledge you’ve gained to solve these by writing small Python programs, following along with your instructor. Computers and computer programs are based upon logic, so there is a little logical thinking required – along with the application of a little basic arithmetic. In addition, there will be a number of small ‘challenges’ that individuals will attempt to solve themselves. Our tutor will be on hand to help you, as necessary. This course is for people who have little or no experience with coding and programming.
