The Oxford-Harrington Rare Disease Centre (OHC) Symposium is the UK’s leading academic-industry rare disease conference, bringing together in-person delegates from both sectors as well as key stakeholders in rare disease therapeutics development. Over three days, from 24-26 September 2024, presentations and panel discussions will be delivered by international leaders in the field.
The Symposium’s theme, Therapeutics Development for Rare Diseases, will explore how pioneering research, innovative treatment approaches, and collaborative efforts across biotech, pharma, academic institutions, funders, patient organisations, and regulators can enhance and accelerate the delivery of effective therapies for rare diseases.
In the last 12 months, the OHC has launched its Therapeutics Accelerator, welcomed Lord David Cameron as Founding Chair of its Advisory Council, co-founded the Rare Therapies Launch Pad, funded its first company, and run its first funding call with ~100 applicants.
The symposium programme offers updates on these activities and includes sessions covering a range of key topics in rare diseases including therapeutic genomics, drug development exemplars, lifelong therapies for neuromuscular diseases and paediatric cancer. From inhaled gene therapy for rare respiratory diseases to advancements in oligonucleotide therapies for neurodevelopmental disorders, our programme will showcase the latest research and innovation shaping the future of rare disease therapeutics.
