Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Oxford Jewish Society invite everyone to join us in marking Holocaust Memorial Day and 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and death camp. During the Holocaust, 6 million Jewish people, two-thirds of Europe’s Jewish population, were murdered by the Nazis. We mark this day to remember not only the individuals whose lives were taken from them, but also to remind ourselves of the consequences of unchecked antisemitism. We live in a world where Holocaust trivialisation, distortion and denial are becoming increasingly common, so learning about the Holocaust is more important than ever.
For this reason, we would like to welcome everyone to consider this event, irrespective of background or knowledge about the Holocaust. We are very grateful to be hosting Holocaust survivor Annick Lever BEM to give testimony of her experiences during the Holocaust. Very few Holocaust survivors remain alive in the UK and their number is sadly reducing every year. Hearing testimony from a Holocaust survivor first hand is a powerful way to learn about what happened, so we encourage everyone to consider this important opportunity.
