The Face of the Future Workforce: Our responsibility to diversify it

As a university, we have the power to shape the future workforce. But currently only 1 in 3 UK entrepreneurs are women, a gender gap that’s comparable to 1.1 million missing businesses, and just 0.2% of Venture Capital funding goes to black women founders. Closing this gap could add an additional £250 billion in Gross Value Add to the UK economy.

There is an urgent need to diversify in order to strengthen the future workforce. This evening, we will discuss how we can empower and support more women, people of colour and those from underrepresented groups to become founders and leaders? How can we help address the disparities in entrepreneurship support, celebrate more role models, and create a diverse and confident workforce that represents all of us?

Join us to meet nine exceptional entrepreneurs on the Foundry’s L.E.V8 Women programme, and hear from three of our 2019 L.E.V8 Women Ambassadors Arlan Hamilton, Niamh Gavin and Kal Patel. Arlan and Niamh will be interviewed by Investor and Advisor, Kal Patel, they will discuss the responsibility we have and the role we can play in contributing to a brighter future.
